If you only care how people perceive you, you are lacking this important truth: the fear of God. The projected image causes us to protect what we want other people to see in us, but it doesn't give the same reverence for what God sees in us. It causes you to live with the fear of opinions and change yourself to fit their narratives. It's something our human nature struggles with.
