If you go to Google or Bing and search modesty, you will mostly see photos of women wearing a hijab. Modesty is not only for the Muslim community, it is also found in Christianity. God's heart for womanhood at large is to protect our bodies by covering them.
No, we don't have to be fully covered to only reveal our faces, but He does want us to do a great job at protecting our delicate and intimate parts. First, let me say I respect the Muslim Community and their standards for modesty. Honestly, they do a much better job at upholding the standard than anyone else!
But why should modesty be taken so seriously?
IT'S A FORM OF PROTECTION. In the world today, Victoria has NO SECRETS! It is easy to look around and immediately examine the fullness of a woman's body before you even know her name. The Bible tells us," I want women to adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and discreetly in proper clothing...," 1 TIMOTHY 2:9. God wants us to be discreet with our bodies, which means to be guarded. Though people will follow after their lustful desires regardless of what we wear, it is also our responsibility to remain pure and reveal ourselves only to our husbands.
IT'S A SIGN OF DIGNITY Dignity is the state or quality of being worthy of respect or honor. Do you believe you are worthy of respect or honor? Come on sis, how annoying is it to have a man glaring at you and then only approaching you to fulfill his own desires? MOST ANNOYING THING EVER! But here's a tip, you show that you are worthy of respect by your presentation. You are more than what you present! Remember this.
IT'S A FORM OF GODLINESS Modesty is a form of godliness because it's decent, appropriate, and disciplined. Of course, we all want to feel sexy and get attention, but there is a better way to attain it: GOOD WORKS. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 tells us, "Women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works."
